Guidewire Technical Lead


Zurich is looking to better leverage the Guidewire software investments moving forwards. To do this, we are looking for a Guidewire Technical Lead who has the desire and experience to lead the technology and delivery strategy for Guidewire, underpinned by the creation and subsequent execution of a delivery roadmap that embraces innovation, building internal capability and optimizing the usage of our partner Systems Integrators. The location for this role is flexible.

The Guidewire Technical Lead is a senior leader who has overall accountability for the strategic vision and associated strategic roadmap. The individual is responsible, in partnership with executive stakeholder, to bring forwards the Guidewire strategy and to ensure alignment to the business strategy. The individual provides leadership and overall strategic direction (or oversight) to the various teams engaged in platform architecture, delivery and support and is actively involved in the overarching architecting and governance of the platform.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Leads alignment to business strategy, roadmap and platform governance policies

  • Delivering a detailed Guidewire Technology strategy identifying the upgrade approach and target platform, shareable assets and best practices to be Implemented

  • Articulates the vision and business value (including requisite financial business cases) of building, supporting and developing the roadmap for the platform

  • Mobilizes the organization to deliver against the strategy in collaboration with the Zurich entities who use the platform

  • Establish and drive the future Cloud strategy and roadmap in relation to Guidewire

  • Build and effective delivery model for Guidewire support, including management of the Sis currently engaged to support the software

  • Overall accountability for the Guidewire architecture working in close partnership with Zurich's Enterprise Architects

  • Leads the change towards a more agile and innovative approach to developing on Guidewire, including establishing a target operating model, establishing a strong internal Center of Expertise

  • Establishing strong strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and Zurich entities using Guidewire

  • Drive standardization of the Guidewire assets, implement efficient delivery and vendor engagement models

  • Building a strong partnership with Guidewire and a strong peer network

  • Engage with Guidewire to influence their future roadmap inline with Zurich priorities, ensuring a tight management of solution expenditure

Basic Qualifications –

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development or IT area OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 12 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development or IT area AND

  • Experience in IT syndication

  • Experience in application development and maintenance delivery

  • Experience in leading teams and working with senior business leaders and stakeholders

  • Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications –

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Vendor management skills

  • Insurance industry experience

  • Successful track record of having delivered similar Guidewire technology transformations in prior roles

  • Strong consultative skills combined with hand-on delivery skills

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong track record of operating and influencing in a global business environment
