Claims Customer Relationship Consultant


We are seeking a Claims Customer Relationship Consultant to focus on relationship building and business development strategies. This position can sit in our Boston, New York, Parsippany or Rocky HIll offices.

In this role, you will collaborate and partner with business units, cross functional business groups and the broker community to execute strategies that promote claims value-added services, drive profitable growth, and improve technical excellence, customer satisfaction and retention. You will be an account representative and ambassador of Zurich by handling more complex customer service issues for assigned accounts in the energy sector. You will develop and maintain relationships with our agent and broker distribution channels in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and our distribution channels to assess coverage needs and provide viable solutions. You will also support the Zurich sales culture by being a subject matter expert for agents, brokers and customers. As part of our commitment to customer-centricity, you will identify and coordinate with the appropriate internal and external resources for resolution while following Zurich’s established best practices/customer protocols.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Partner with underwriting to participate in new business prospects with brokers and customers by communicating and selling the claims value proposition to large complex accounts

  • Research and respond to the claims service needs of prospective and current customers by developing and delivering claims services marketing presentations and RFP responses that differentiate Zurich North America Claims Services

  • Collaborate with business partners to deliver meaningful stewardship meetings with customers by providing benchmark and trending analysis to help demonstrate impact of Zurich claims services to customers' overall loss costs

  • Increase customer satisfaction and retention by building lasting relationships with our customers' risk managers and brokers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Claims areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims areaAND

  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation and commercial liability business lines and claims

  • Customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous technical claims handling experience

  • Previous sales or business development skills

  • Experience with win-win negotiating strategies

  • Ability to develop strong cross functional, internal and external partnerships

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Problem solving and solutions oriented

  • Computer literate
