Senior Underwriter Property and Casualty
Zurich North America is seeking several Property and Casualty Portfolio Underwriters to join the Select Portfolios Team here at Zurich. This position will be based in Chicago, IL.
Is a new business unit being built in the National Accounts SBU to underwrite and support the coverage needs of National Accounts customers. This could require different coverage approaches to go along with their primary large casualty or large property product placements. The Portfolio Underwriting team will be responsible for building a book of new business through writing the traditional property and casualty exposures for new customers. The team will also be helping to driving deeper product density on current customers including connecting customer needs with our excess liability, cyber, financial and special lines underwriters and product capabilities.
Our Property and Casualty Select Portfolio Underwriters will:
Handle the supporting lines of P&C business in order to meet product needs for U.S National accounts customers.
Provide expert underwriting advice to key stakeholders and customers to enable the organization meet customer and organizational expectations.
Have extensive technical knowledge of insurance industry operations, processes, pricing and market environments.
Be an expert in building relationships to help meet broker/customer expectations as well as supporting the One Zurich strategy.
Possess strong negotiation skills to help drive profitability metrics for the Select Portfolios Underwriting business unit.
Have excellent organizational and communication skills to help drive collaboration with Property, Casualty and Specialty Lines teams in National Accounts.
Property and Casualty Select Portfolio Underwriter Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
Experience with Microsoft office
Experience working toward deadlines and under time restraints
Commercial Property and Casualty Underwriting experience
Strong Broker relationships
Ability to effectively assess risk
Ability to work in a team-based environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong negotiation skills and strong Analytical Skills
