Head of National Wholesale Distribution
Zurich North America is currently looking for a Head of National Wholesale Distribution that will build strategic business relationships with our Select Wholesale & Surplus Brokers. This role is responsible for making Zurich the Brokers' most trusted and valuable insurer partner. They will focus on business priorities, market differentiation and focus on the broker strategy, organizational structure and create a win-win solution for both parties. Develops and executes strategies with senior executives and regional leadership teams, works on organization wide initiatives, drives target account strategies, works on cross-selling opportunities and product density. We are looking for someone who is able to develop and maintain relationships at all levels, execute on the strategic plan and initiate action plans across Zurich North America. This role will also drive projects and on-going activities and take a consistent organized approach that drives results. This position requires a high level of analytical ability and relationship management skills.
We prefer this position is located in our New York, Chicago or Atlanta office with significant business travel expected.
Develop an effective annual business activity planning process to ensure Zurich and the Brokers have a good knowledge of each other's organization, business plans, processes and key contacts.
Facilitates the creation of a Zurich relationship map with each key Brokers management.
Actively promotes Zurich products & services to key Brokers and represents the Broker internally at Zurich.
Represents One Zurich brand to the Broker and identifies ways in which Zurich and each Broker may work smarter together for mutual benefit.
Channels all ideas, opportunities and improvements to appropriate Division/BU/SSU within Zurich and is responsible for follow-up and change initiatives.
Understands and communicates to underwriting leadership how each Broker evaluates insurers against the demands and needs of customers, and/or the attractiveness of insurers generally.
Develops an effective and collaborative Portfolio Renewal & New Business Process consistent with our goals.
Stays aligned with business unit (BU) stakeholders' objectives.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Relationship Management area
10 or more years of experience in underwriting, distribution management and/or relationship management roles
Ability to travel 50%
Broker relationship management experience and strong market facing experience.
Wholesale & Surplus Broker relationships
Strong project management discipline, and follow-through
Strong project and process management skills and the ability to balance the needs of Broker and Zurich
Good understanding of Zurich's organization structure, business strategy, customer and distribution strategies,, business drivers, products and services
Good understanding of complex insurance programs and risk solutions
Strong understanding of the Zurich's value propositions and internal performance targets
Deep understanding of Broker Channel a big plus
Good understanding of regulatory environment and keeping current with the changing landscape
Highly engaging, strong listening, communications and inter-personal skills.
Strong ability to influence and negotiate
Ability to understand the needs of each Underwriting line on a portfolio basis and manage with metrics, particularly to the KPI's
