Zurich North America is looking for a VP, Segment Underwriting Product Manager for Professional Liability and Cyber to join our Financial Lines Insurance Underwriting Team which handles all publicly traded and private companies domiciled in the United States.This role requires significant technical knowledge of Professional Liability and Cyber and will be focused on providing technical underwriting support to the Professional Liability and Cyber team to achieve financial results, with an emphasis on top line growth, portfolio diversification and loss ratio.

The Segment Underwriting Product Manager will also be responsible for driving improvements with Professional Liability and Cyber customer and broker net promoter scores and quality scores by driving product development, along with increasing employee net promoter scores by helping to develop efficient underwriting process, training and empowerment while engaging in Zurich preferred behaviors.

We are looking for a thought leader-someone with extensive experience in the technical aspects of Professional Liability and Cyber who is strategic with strong underwriting and portfolio management experience. This role will be supporting Cyber for Financial Lines in support of the Market Basket and Financial Lines goals.

Additional responsibilities for this role include:

  • Collaborating with Market Basket leaders to develop business cases and product value propositions

  • Overseeing and driving product development (new policy forms, endorsements and solutions) that strengthens renewal retention, accelerates new business growth and maintains profitability.

  • Identifying emerging risks/opportunities and coverages for Professional Liability, affirmative cyber and non-affirmative cyber lines

  • Partnering with the Market Baskets and regulatory Services to maintain an efficient endorsement library

  • Helping to develop underwriting appetite and strategy in partnership with MSG Market Basket leads

  • Ensuring underwriting guidelines are current while working with underwriting leadership to ensure underwriting guidelines reflect underwriting strategy and appetite, maintaining consistency across Professional Liability and Cyber where appropriate.

  • Portfolio Management and the delivery of quality metrics such as book profile, claim inventory and overall performance

  • Managing the development of the Country Underwriting plan including requirements for success, measurements and monitoring tools of underwriting actions

  • Working with Market Baskets and Actuary to determine effective of rate plans and rate plan refiling needs

  • Engage with our key trading partners, brokers, customers and key service providers to gather market intelligence, market the Zurich brand and capabilities and strengthen relationships

  • Liaising with Market Basket heads, UW Insights and Development and Compliance to ensure quality and governance metrics are met

This role will be filled at either the level III or level IV. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Qualifications for this role are as follows:

VP, Segment Underwriting Product Manager III:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 9 or more years of experience in the Risk Management or Underwriting or Broker or Carrier or Market Facing area within the Commercial Insurance industryAND

  • 2 or more years of management experience

  • Technical knowledge of Professional Liability and Cyber lines of business and the insurance industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD

  • Strong portfolio management skills

  • Experience working with actuaries, interpreting actuarial results including loss triangles and actual vs expected loss reserving information, etc.

  • Experience building and implementing our key strategies

  • Excellent team building, influencing and organizational skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to interact with the C-Suite

  • Ability to manage vision and purpose, lead the organization through innovative and creative thinking

VP, Segment Underwriting Product Manager IV:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting areaAND

  • Experience administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of people management experience

  • Advanced and in-depth experience underwriting multiple Professional Lines and Cyber products

  • JD

  • Strong portfolio management skills

  • Experience working with actuaries, interpreting actuarial results including loss triangles and actual vs expected loss reserving information, etc.

  • Experience building and implementing our key strategies

  • Excellent team building, influencing and organizational skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to interact with the C-Suite

  • Ability to manage vision and purpose, lead the organization through innovative and creative thinking
