Zurich is seeking a US International Reverse Flow Underwriter to join our IPZ Operations team in our Schaumburg office. We are also open to hiring talent remotely. Preferred candidates will have experience in Large Property, or Casualty (Large or MM) and willingness to be flexible to shape the outcomes needed by customers and effectively collaborate to partner with producing underwriters less familiar with the US coverage and rate trends, and regulatory considerations.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • The US International Received team has an opportunity to provide US underwriting support for incoming received business from non-US producing countries. This is more of a fast flow model to collaborate with the producing underwriter outside of the US.

  • International US received business is $600M USD portfolio and the most significant country in the Zurich global network. We have significant regulatory differences in US and would like to provide local US insights to the producing country underwriter who will not be as familiar for form, rate, and US market practices.

  • The RC underwriter will partner with the producing underwriter who provides overall structure, coverage needs, and program binder to ensure we follow US underwriting standards, provide guidance, develop quote proposal(s), and issuance for the US exposure.

  • The RC underwriter will be responsible to support producing countries for a primary line of business with potential for secondary line(s), both guarantee cost and loss sensitive types of accounts to address seasonality of business.

  • The RC underwriter will not have market production responsibilities, although some US broker interaction will be required.

  • The RC underwriter will collaborate with a dedicated international servicing specialist working alongside to support the servicing and processing of the local US policies.

  • Ideal candidate will be flexible in thinking, enjoy working with different cultures, and an excellent collaborator.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Technical knowledge of Commercial Lines Underwriting.

  • Experience working Internationally

  • Experience working with Commercial insurance brokers

  • Creative problem solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. The starting salary range for the position is: $103,900.00 - $142,900.00.
