Associate - Private Equity


Associate, PrivateEquity reports to the Head of Private Equity and plays a key part in identifying funds and direct private capital investment opportunities, performing investment analysis and due diligence on investments and recommending investment and divestment opportunities to the Private Equity team and to the ZAAM Investment Committee. This role will be based in our New York, New York office.

A major aspect of the role for the professional will be to participate actively or lead in monitoring, reporting and analyzing investment portfolio holdings, participate or lead in preparing presentations for decision making and reporting purposes, as well as ad hoc analyses as may be requested by senior investment professionals.

Job Summary:

  • Workwiththe senior PE investment professionals to source and analyze the investment merit s of indirect (fund), direct opportunities and secondary asset purchases;

  • Participatein due diligence on potential investments; complete analyses to support investment theses and assess risks, as may be requested by deal leader s ; Conduct referencing of key principals and support deal leader in negotiation of documents.

  • Participatein preparing memoranda for the ZAAM Investment Committee detailing the opportunity, analysis of relevant theses and risks, and recommendation of the ZAAM PE team.

  • Participate actively or lead, as may be requested by the Head of Private Equity, in preparing analyses and presentations for monitoring, reporting, strategy purposes as may be requested by the Head of Private Equity.

  • Initiate, develop and maintain appropriate tools (mostly based on Excel) for portfolio monitoring and analysis.

  • Analyzeprivate capital deal activity and other considerations related to ZAAM private equity.

  • Assistseniorinvestmentprofessionalsasmayberequestedby the head of private equity.

  • Maintaindatabases andother infrastructure tools to report pipeline and other ad-hoc analyses.

  • Remaincurrentwithrespecttothe debt and equity capital markets as may be relevant to ZAAM PE.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BachelorsDegreeand5 or more years of experience in the Investments area OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Investments area AND

  • 3 or more years of Private Equity investing experience (fund and/or direct)

  • 2 or more years in, transaction environment in M&A, corporate finance, asset management, transaction services or consulting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

  • Strong knowledge of financial products and knowledge of corporate finance transactional situations

  • Knowledgeof partnerships terms and conditions

  • Experienceanalyzingandinterpreting materials related to direct investment opportunities

  • Advancedfinancialmodelling and presentation preparation

  • AdvanceMicrosoftOfficeskills

  • ExperiencewithCapitalIQ,Bloombergor FactSet
