Sr. Medical Healthcare Claims Specialist
Zurich is currently seeking a Senior Medical Healthcare Claims Specialist to join our team in our Addison, TX office.
In this role, you will manage claims related to a Healthcare Professional Liability policy consisting of primarily medical malpractice matters with a lesser number of general liability claims. These are of moderate to high value and complexity. Under limited direction, you will ensure that claims are handled in the most efficient, effective way while deliveringacustomer-centric claims service requiring specialized knowledge of a medical nature. You will work closely with customers, evaluate coverage, assign counsel, investigate liability and damages, direct litigation and negotiate the resolution of claims involving primary, umbrella, excess and reinsurance files.
To be successful in this role, you need to develop strong customer and broker relationships on account based business through timely and effective communication. This is a market-facing position and requires significant direct contact with all areas of healthcare administration including insureds' internal claims and risk personnel, their internal and external counsel and senior executive staff.
Additionally, you will work closely with Underwriting, Actuarial and Risk Management on claims review as part of the renewal process and submission for prospective insureds.
We offer flexible work options including the ability to work from home up to 3 days a week after 6 months. Approximately 10% business travel may be required.
Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims or Litigation areaOR
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Litigation areaOR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Litigation areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims Handling area within the Insurance industryAND
Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
Knowledge of the legal statutes and procedures
Knowledge and skill of claims handling
Customer service experience
Experience with Microsoft
7 or more years of claims handling experience with 2 or more years in Healthcare or medical malpractice
Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster license
Strong communication skills
Ability to multi-task, switch-task and adapt to a changing environment
Organization and time management skills
Ability to work independently
Experience collaborating across work groups
Ability to effectively present information to management, claimants and customers
