Job Summary

Creates, monitors and maintains local, regional and/or global technical standards and quality for their applicable Line of Business or Industry Sector. Responsible for ensuring standards are applied consistently acrossUnderwriting andRisk Engineering.Usually sits on global technical centers or industry sector groups and are typically the technical “go to” point for the global, regional and/or local network. High Level Client Internally Focused - The job's core deliverables rely on delivering service to internal clients, usually at the executive or Sr. Management level. The job includes using subject matter expertise, to address advanced, high-level questions and issues.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide regional/global technical support and authority tounderwriters andrisk engineers, involved in the delivery of risk assessment and risk improvement services to customers and business partners
  • Responsible for line of business or industry specific technical updates and maintenance of organizational knowledge including leading line of business or industry specific technical reviews and projects
  • Provides effective advice on risk management issues to external customers and internal business partners
  • Participates in loss investigations
  • Leads and advises in competency management activities, including the monitoring of mentoring activities and competency sign-off, where appropriate
  • Drives the development and global delivery of technical standards and trainings
  • Represents the company by participation with industry specific professional organizations, contributing to safety standards that respond appropriately to emerging risks
  • May drive the global deployment of technical training initiatives
  • Business Travel, as required

Additional Job Functions

  • Conducts limited specific customer assignments, designed to maintain own technical competency
  • Supports the marketing of risk engineering products and services within own area of expertise
  • Leads or participates in technical projects as required

Business Accountabilities

  • Develop processes and review policies relevant to risk engineering in order to ensure they are in line with strategic business objectives
  • Participate as lead risk engineering technical specialist in assigned geography to enable the implementation of policy, projects and change initiatives
  • Control the technical quality and professional standards of the risk engineering function to deliver a consistently high-quality service to customers
  • Manage the development of a training curriculum aligned with relevant technical standards to deliver a consistently high-quality service to customers
  • Develop, propose and, where appropriate, lead the implementation of initiatives to improve processes, develop policies and generate innovation in theunderwriting andrisk engineering field
  • Conduct core analysis based on research and modeling to understand and quantify the risks associated with proposed policies, regulatory change or other external factors (e.g. environmental, political, economic)
  • Analyze and review complex data from multiple sources to make informed, authoritative technical/professional recommendations in order to improve business performance in the medium and longer term
  • Develops Thought Leadership content for customer publications and marketing initiatives
  • Lead and provide advice in the mentoring and training ofunderwriters andrisk engineering specialists, confirming sign off of technical abilities to maintain consistent standards
  • Responsible for line of business or industry specific technical updates and maintenance of organizational knowledge to deliver consistent results to customers
  • Coach and provide technical advice and counsel within and outside operating unit

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area


• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced knowledge of risk engineering methodologies and insurance industry
